My dream sewing room…

As I’ve been cleaning out my sewing room, I’ve been thinking about what my dream sewing room might look like.

Sometime in the next couple of years I’ll get to design a sewing room from scratch when we finish the basement, so this is something I can get excited about. Since I’m a planner, I’ve created a board on Pinterest to gather photos of the design elements I like. So here’s some dream sewing room eye candy for you all.

I love the idea of sprucing up an old hutch with some paint and using it to store and display fabric.

I also like this raised work space covered with oil cloth to give it some color. It would be the perfect height for cutting so you’re not constantly bending over, putting stress on your back. We have an extra workbench in the basement that was left behind by the previous owner that I could recreate this look with.

I also will need a peg board near my work space so I have a place to put all my notions so they are within reach, but not taking up space on the table.

I also really like the look of fabric covered cork boards. This one is so pretty and it would be a great place to display inspiration photos, coupons and a calendar of upcoming classes I’m teaching.

And since I occasionally dabble in garment making, a sweet dress form like this one would be adorable.

Seating for two … or eight would also be awesome. That way I when I host sit-n-sew, we can all create in my dream sewing space. And don’t you just love the combination of a chandelier and zebra print rug. It shouldn’t work together, but somehow it does.

What would your dreams sewing room look like?

  1. I love the first room you posted! My room is yellow with red, apple green and adding turquoise accents. I love the turquoise walls too though! Beautiful!
