4 quilt apps for the iPhone I love

Craftsy app

Craftsy

If you haven’t heard of Craftsy yet, then you must visit Craftsy.com immediately. You can take classes in all kinds of quilting techniques, from free motion quilting to appliqué and everything in between. Then download the Craftsy app and you can take those classes with you wherever you go. I used it to watch a lesson on quilting in negative space in bed.

QuiltCalc

QuiltCalc by Robert Kaufman

Ever wonder how much backing fabric you need to buy for your quilt top? How about how many strips of binding you need? Or what side square to cut for set in triangles? You can figure it all out and more in seconds with this app.

Block Fab

This app has a library filled with dozens of quilt block patterns. Pick a block you like, the size you want to make it in, and how many blocks you want to make and the app calculates how much yardage you need to make the blocks. It even tells you how many strips to cut of each fabric and how many pieces you need to make all the blocks. When you’re done, email yourself the cutting instructions.

Quilt Shop app

Quilt Shops

This is perfect for the quilter on the go. Enter in your location and the app maps out all the quilt shops in your area. Use it to plan a shop hop on your next vacation.
