August Block of the Month

The August block is another simple block. We’re just making a few half square triangles and then putting it together in rows of four with some squares. The complicated look that makes this quilt look difficult comes when we assemble all the different blocks at the end of the year.

Also, if you’re running low on your green and yellow fabrics, don’t worry. We just have four more blocks to make that feature that fabric. So we’ll be done with it next month and onto a new color scheme in October as we finish out the corners of the Calypso Kaleidoscope quilt. August 2015

And I’ve got some good news for those of you who have been trying to find the fabrics to make this quilt with. The original Calypso Batik line from Moda is completely sold out and it has been discontinued. But I have hand-selected new prints from Majestic Batiks to recreate the look of the original quilt kit. The fabrics are created in Indonesia, using centuries-old hand dying methods. They are absolutely beautiful and using the new kit will give you the same color scheme of the original kit.

The fabrics are being created in Indonesia right now and will be available for shipment on September 15. In the meantime, you can click here to pre-order your kit. You don’t have to pay until the kits are shipped so you can order now and take six weeks to pay.
