How to Sew Bias Binding – Star Bright Jelly Roll Christmas Tree Skirt – 12 Makes of Christmas

We’ve done it! We reached our 12th day of Christmas makes and we are finishing up with a tutorial on how to create bias binding and attach it to your tree skirt so that it curves beautifully around your edge.

I also cover how to mark your quilt for your inner and outer circle, cut it down and cut the slit so that you can get it around your tree. Since bias binding is a more intermediate technique, I assume you already know things like, how to make a mitered corner and join your ends for continuous binding.

But if you need a refresher on those steps, I suggest you watch our in-depth binding tutorial for creating binding from width of fabric strips that we created for our Beginner Quilting series. You can check it out here: https://www.quiltaddictsanonymous.com/2020/02/continuous-binding-tutorial-mitered-corners-free-beginner-quilting-videos-and-pattern-3/

Thank you so much for following along with our third annual 12 Makes of Christmas series. I always have so much fun putting these projects together and it is always fun to see you all get excited about them too.

Please tag us in your finished projects on Instagram with @QuiltAddictsAnonymous so I can see how you made each project your own. And if you finish at 2 a.m. on Christmas morning, I won’t judge you. I’ve been there myself … many times. Heck, I’ve bound quilts on the way to the family get together.

And as always, if you have been inspired by this series and enjoyed the free patterns, we would love it if you said thanks by getting the materials you need to make the project from us. Your support is what allows us to bring you free tutorials every week and free patterns as part of our 12 Makes of Christmas series every December.
