Bubble is a great introduction to applique and in this video I walk you through how to create fusible applique, one of the fastest and easiest applique quilting methods.
There is just one panel to applique and the shapes are all various sizes of circles, so there are not weird angles or corners to make your way around. Just learn how to smoothly navigate the curves on one small panel.
In the video we cover the supplies you need, how to window your fusible applique to create a soft and flexible quilt, how to apply the fusible web to the wrong side of your fabric, arrange and fuse the pieces to your quilt and finally how to secure the applique to your panel with decorative stitching.
I also talk about how I used ghost quilting to fill up the negative space in this quilt, to create a fun design that makes use of the ample negative space in the quilt design. Negative space is one of the hallmarks of modern quilt design, and it is a quilter’s dream for doing something fun, so stay tuned until the end.
