I am so excited to release the 2016 Block of the Month pattern, Stars in the Night.
We will make 12 different blocks designs ranging in size from 3 inches to 18 inches square. The ranges in size adds a fun dimension to the quilt and creates the look of stars in the sky with some stars being bigger and brighter than others.
The BOM will begin in January 2016 and run through December 2016. The finished quilt will measure 108 x 120-inches, but you could easily make it two feet smaller by leaving off the borders. The fabrics I used to design the quilt are from Majestic Batiks, an Oregon-based family-owned business that works with artists in Indonesia to create handcrafted batiks using the finest cotton fabrics.
There are quilt kits available to order in the fabrics you see above. Just click here to order yours.
The patterns will be free, as always. Use the form below to sign up to make sure you get all the 2016 QAA BOM patterns and updates.

Good Morning,
I would LOVE to join in! I saw the January BOM block and followed the link to your site. I enjoy skill-builder projects and would like to know how to ‘register’. Be Well!

You just have to click on the photo at the bottom of the blog to go to Craftsy where you can download the pattern. But here’s the direct link: http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/quilting/home-decor/block-of-the-month—january/80628
What is the finished size of the January BOM?
It will be 12 1/2″ unfinished and 12″ finished once it is assembled with the rest of the quilt.
I would like to download the pattern every month for this Quilt Addicts Anonymous quilt, in particular, the pattern for January, 2014. However, I do not want to go on Facebook and have my e-mail out all over – can’t I just download the patterns and what do I do????
The only way to download this pattern is through the Craftsy website. I’m sorry if that is inconvenient for you. Here’s the link: http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/quilting/home-decor/block-of-the-month—january/80628
I will not be able to attend your class in Muscatine today due to the weather. I had eye surgery on Tuesday and with the weather have decided to not try it this month. Hopefully I will be able to figure out the February block from your demonstration on the website as I really didn’t want to miss your class today. See you in March.

Congratulations on your baby girl. She is a cutey.

IF IT IS OUT THERE, WHERE CAN I GET IT, THANK YOU
No you didn’t miss anything. I’m almost done editing the video. If all goes well, the November block should be out tonight.
Will there be a finishing direction or is is this month on the end??
greeting Guilitta
This month’s pattern instructions include an assembly diagram to help you put the quilt together. Please let me know if you have any other questions about putting the quilt together.

I love the colors of this quilt and can’t wait to get started on the BOM. I just downloaded the pattern and will be trying in the morning to find the fabric.

The quilt kit is available now. You can purchase it at this link: http://quiltaddictsanonymous.com/block-of-the-month-quilt-kit/
What does WOF mean?
Width of Fabric – So if the instructions say 2 inches by WOF, then you cut a strip that is 2 inches wide and 40 inches long.
how long will the bom last?
12 months
How many of the February BOM do we need to make for the quilt? I didn’t see a number with the instructions.
Thank you!
There are eight this month. It is at the end of the instructions and in the video tutorial.
I love this quilt! I’m a batik-a-holic and had the best time going thru my stash pulling out the fabrics I’m going to use. Thank you so much for your time and expertise for providing this pattern to teach and help the rest of us to make this beautiful quilt!!
I love this quilt and just have to make it. I am about to download the pattern. Thank you for sharing this beautiful quilt with us.
Stephanie-
I’m having problems with this year’s BOM. I really don’t like black and I get confused when I try to replace the black with a different color. I’m just not that creative, or advanced. I have to follow everything step-by-step. Is there any way I can switch to last year’s BOM that was purple? I like it much better (although I’ve only seen one block). The money would still come out of my account. I just need to know how to access those BOM’s. Thank you!
Cyndi,
I do not offer a quilt kit directly for the 2014 BOM, but you can purchase is from BOMAmerica.com. Here’s the link: http://bomamerica.com/Stephanies-Star-12-month-Block-of-the-Month-Kit-14-0401.htm
You will receive a copy of the pattern with the fabric for each month’s quilt block.
If you would like to purchase your fabric on your own, the links to all the blocks with the fabric requirements are available right here: http://quiltaddictsanonymous.com/block-of-the-month/block-of-the-month-2014/
I also have a pattern available on Craftsy where you can get all the instructions for 2014 in one PDF. Here’s the link: http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/quilting/home-decor/block-of-the-month—2014/124096 It costs $5 for the download, the individual month patterns are free.
Please let me know if you have any other questions!
Stephanie
I was wondering how much black do you need just for the front of the quilt? thank you, I think its beautiful but as finances are tight and I have some batiks I only really need the black for the front as I will sort the back out later. Thanks for sharing this beautiful pattern 🙂
Hi Linda, I was just looking at the site trying to find out the same thing. I’d rather not buy the entire 10.25 yds of black right up front. It will be too bulky to cut from for one thing. Has anyone discovered how much of the black is for the front?
Stephanie, I have a bit of a problem. I was taking apart the seem on one of my pieces and the fabric tore. I bought the kit and I was wondering if there is any extra fabric for mistakes or do I need to search on the internet for some, Could you let me know as soon as possible. Thank you
I stumbled onto your web site and I love the block of the month quilt you designed. I have been following you since January 2015 and I was looking for April. Am I just missing it, or is it not up yet? Thank you for the design and free pattern.
R. Kidd
Rochelle,
The new design is always posted on the first Monday of the month, which is April 6. If you’re on the email list, you’ll get a notification as soon as it is up.

Thank you

Hi Stephanie, I would like to know where I can get the tutorial or the pattern for the pillow case with French seams. I thought I had it saved, but it disappeared. I first saw it on March 23. Can you help?
Connit
Here’s the link to the tutorial. http://www.quiltaddictsanonymous.com/2015/03/tutorial-make-a-pillowcase-with-french-seams/. Let me know if you need anything else.
would like to get kit amy out there still
They are sold out and the fabric line has been discontinued, but I’m working on finding similar fabrics from another line. Would you be interested in a kit with similar fabrics, hand selected by me to create the same look? – Stephanie

Stephanie, I am working on the June block. You say the press the half square triangles open. I am now sewing them together, should I press them open or just flat. Thank you.
I found the information on the video, sorry to bug.
I’,m not sure if you can do anything about this because it’s so far in the year. I bought the kit for the 2015 block of the month. I was looking at the blocks still left to do and I noticed a fabric that was used that I never received. The number for it is 4332-42. I looked at all the fabrics for this kit and I don’t have it. I saw in one of your answers that the fabric line has been discontinued. I was hoping that maybe you had some extra. It kinda stinks that I never got it having paid, for it but it was my fault I hadn’t noticed. Please let me know so I can go searching for it if I have to. Thank you.
Moda had already sold out out 4332 42 by the time my fabric distributor put in the order for the kits. We are substituting 4332 41 for 4332 42 and you should have half-a-yard instead of 4331 41. The change is reflected in the fabric requirements sheet that was sent along with your kit. The two fabrics are very close in value and are not used in the same block, so it should not affect the overall look of your finished quilt in any way. Sorry for any confusion.
I’m sorry to bug, I was just wondering if you sent those squares to me yet? If you could let me know I would appreciate it .
Thank you
Lynnette
It should arrive this week.
I received my squares today and I’m really excited to finish my quilt.
Thank you
Cannot seem to download pattern for Block of the Month. I did subscribe to email. Now Iwould love the pattern
Clare – The reason you are having trouble is you have not created an account yet. That is different than signing up for emails. Just click here: http://www.quiltaddictsanonymous.com/my-account/ to create your free account. Then you’ll be able to add the pattern to your cart and download it.
I watched a utube video and wanted to try this, as I am a at home care giver looking for a craft.
I had problems with the January 2016 block. I printed the patterns from my home pc on my home printer on ordinary A4 size paper and the paper piecing pattern ended up being too small! I would like to have details of the printer and paper to use as I anticipate endless problems with the February blocks. Hope to hear from you and thank you for the wonderful patterns!
Elmine,
The patterns must be printed at 100 percent in order for them to be the right size. Some printers will scale the print down a little bit, which causes problems for quilting. There is a one-inch square on each page. Make sure to measure it to ensure it is measuring one-inch before sewing. If it does, then the squares will turn out right.
The pattern was printed on 100% and I had to make my own pattern after I saw that the one inch square was not a one inch square! Are there still more paper piecing blocks to come, I dont want to end up with a lot of blocks only to find out that I cannot make the next block because of the size not being perfect. I am sorry to be a pain, but I have to know before I go any further. I do have the January block sorted out now and it looks lovely.
Your printer settings may be slightly off. You’ll have to play with the settings to increase the print size until the square measures one-inch exactly. Then the rest of the pattern will be the right size as well.
Has the April 2016 block been posted yet?
When will April’s block be posted.
I have downloaded the January, February and April blocks. I can’t find the March download link. Please tell me where to find the link. Thanks.
Has the May block been posted yet?
Is there a way in which you can let us kniw when the blocks have been posted? I spend a lot of time looking through all the sites in the internet trying to find out whether it has been done.
I need to print off the may 2016 block. I had ordered it on my kindle where it downloaded the pdf I can’t get it to print from there.
I will have to try from this laptop. thank you
