Christmas in July quilt top reveal

Sometimes when you go into a fabric store a line just grabs you. And that’s what happened to me when I spotted Holiday Frost by Jan Shade Beach for Henry Glass & Co., Inc. I picked up one panel, two yards of the red snowflake, one yard of the silver snowflake and one and two-thirds […]

After quilt retreat: Lonestar

My lonestar also did not receive that much love and attention at quilt retreat. I did manage to nearly finish the appliqued leaves on two of the background squares. But I still have to applique all of the flowers which take about an hour each to complete. I pinned the sections up on my design […]

Sewing room to nursery: Decor

It’s been a long time since I wrote a sewing room to nursery post. Progress pretty much stopped once I had Angela because I was too busy caring for her to keep going on the transformation. She had a crib, a changing table and all the clothes and diapers she could ever need, so that […]

Five hour bed quilt sneak peak

I’ve been working on a new pattern and wanted to share a sneak peak with you all today. The entire quilt top went together in five hours from start to finish. The speed is thanks to using a layer cake, which cuts down significantly on the prep time and a speedy construction technique. Plus since the […]

Virtual Shop Hop: Mama’s Quilt Shop, Independence, La.

Mama’s Quilt Shop is tucked away on a scenic wooded acreage that is also home to the owner, her brother and, of course, mama. It’s a great shop to visit if you’re traveling on US-51 through Louisana. The shop is just a few minutes off the highway and makes a good rest stop. The shop is named […]

Virtual Shop Hop: Heartland Cottons, DeWitt, Iowa

Heartland Cottons is a quaint quilt shop in DeWitt, Iowa, that carries an impressive collection considering it is located in a town of just 5,000. The shop carries a line of paper-piecing patterns by a regional designer. The samples just make you want to knock out a couple wall hangings. Heartland Cottons also carries a […]

Virtual Shop Hop: Pinery Patches, Tigerton, Wis.

Pinery Patches is the second rural quilt shop I’ve visited that is located on property, a few miles outside of town in a building erected from the same building materials you would expect to find a modern farm building made from. It makes sense really, why pay rent that eats into your profit, when you […]

Looking for a quilt shop? There’s an app for that

Quilter’s Club of America and Fons and Porter have released a new app that helps you find quilt shops based on your location. I’ve tested it out around home and when I was on vacation last week and I love it. I used to spend time researching quilt shops on the Internet before going on […]

Virtual Show and Tell: Ombre crib quilt

The ombre crib quilt is officially done and gifted. I almost didn’t think I’d get it done in time for the baby shower on Saturday, the quilting powers that be seemed to be against it happening. A friend of mine is have her second baby. We’re from the same town, went to junior high, high […]
