What was I thinking? Fabric giveaway!

What was I thinking - blog

Over the weekend I organized my fabric stash, a daunting task. As I picked through nearly a decade of fabric purchases, I came across a coordinated set of chickens and maroon chicken wire fabric. I thought it was hideous and shared the photo on Instagram and Facebook.

Well it turns out taste is relative because there were a whole lot of you who absolutely LOVED the chickens and chicken wire. A friend of mine claimed the fabric, but the flurry of activity over what I consider ugly fabric, got me thinking that there may be more people out there who would love my “What was I thinking when I bought this?” fabric.

So here it is, the “What was I thinking? Fabric Giveaway.”

I am giving away all the fabric pictured above. I have organized it into six, somewhat coordinated piles, which means there will be six winners. The themes are: holiday, food, religious, kids/novelty, wine and a bunch of rusty/oranges. This is going to be like fabric roulette. You don’t get to pick which set of fabrics you get if you win, you’ll just be surprised when the fabric arrives at your door.

So to enter, fill out the form below. You can get bonus entries if you like my Facebook page or follow me on Instagram. Good luck!

  1. I’d love to be your Hand-me-down Rose ;-). There are so many Hospice and Prayer quilts I could make out of these beautiful fabrics! I could even do a raffle quilt for this years St. Raphael Bazaar. Thanks for such a wonderful opportunity.

  2. Thank you so much for this opportunity. We lost our oldest daughter to cancer and my youngest daughter was very close to her.
They both were avid gardeners and winter people so when I saw the stash with the veggies and snowmen I thought wouldn’t it be nice to win that one and make something for her to remind her of her sister and the things they did together.
Again thank you for your generosity in doing this!

  3. Thank you so much for the opportunity. I love the chance to win and will be donating it to a local pillowcase challenge and working along with this charity!!

  4. I have some of the same fabrics so I got a good belly laugh this morning! Thank you. If I am drawn I would like to donate to one of the 3 ladies above me, so generous, for good causes and just because! Love your blog, I have learned what to do and also what not to do which is sometimes more important. Thanks for the drawing.

  5. What fun I love surprises. Sometimes when you see certain fabric a project has popped into your head. After buying it and putting it away you forget what the fabric was for. I have a few like that in my stash that I have turned into pillowcases or kennel quilts.

  6. Thanks for the chance to win the fabric stash. It sounds like whoever wins will put it to great use and purpose. There are so many worthy causes to use it towards. It just goes to show that “one person’s trash is another person’s treasure”.

  7. ALL OF THE FABRIC IS SO AWESOME
when you come from a big family you know what to do – be very thankful for what you win and be VERY happy for the winners if you didn’t win- there will be another time – thank you for the chance to win one of the pile of fabric

  8. The don’t laugh comment should also fall upon my head too. I have two of the pieces that you have in the photo. 😀 I am getting ready to make it into a quilt for my god daughter.

  9. I too have some pieces of material I bought and then wondered why, but I always find something to do with it eventually. It may be a year down the road but I always think of something. Thanks for the giveaway!

  10. I never do comments but I really love the fabrics they all look so bright and showy. I missed the burgundy chicken and chicken wire picture. I would love to see it. I am making some pot holders for some friends for christmas and need to find some chicken wire print material. Do you have any suggestions of places to get said material. Thanks, Sarah

  11. I was so excited to see this giveaway. If I should win I would make something for someone in need!!! It’s like pay it forward!!! I think I get more enjoyment than the person receiving what I’m giving!!!

  12. I love fabric. Some of the fabrics will match some I a ready have to make a pretty quilt or a patch apron. I love surprise fabrics. Its like doing a puzzle but more fun.

  13. I just recently got back into quilting after a long bout of ill health. I guess it is like starting over – some of my material is older than me LOL. Love this site.

  14. I Love Fabric and have not been to a fabric store in at least 2-3 years, as I get ready for my #5 spinal/brain/neck surgery. I am intensely optimistic that the next surgery will again give me back much that I have lost in past years and the hope is that it will hold more than 18 months, this time around. I dream daily and hourly of just being at my machines, playing with fabric and embroidery designs. I would love taking a portion of these fabrics off your hands and if a winner, the fabrics will find their new home in one of the NICU quilts I continue to create, in honor of their loving care of our micro preemie grandson who entered the world at 1 lb 15 oz and 3 months early. Now a very active 7 year old, but only due to the loving care of the NICU doctors and nurses who helped him survive every time his heart stopped or he quit breathing. I am trusting you all not to tell my husband that I have entered this competition, I also promise to not tell any of your spouses…and I will fully enjoy (and share with you) the look on his face if he brings me a package from the mailman filled with gorgeous, glorious fabric. Good Luck everyone who enters. 🙂

  15. Thank you for doing this and giving us a chance to use this material for making someone happy with receiving a quilt

  16. Am trying to build a nice stash variety so that as a new quilter I can continue to sew up plenty of stuff with my creativity. Thanks so much for giving me and many others the chance to win these pretty fabrics!

  17. It would be wonderful to win as I’m 70 and on a fixed income.I would like to leave my 14 grandchildren a quilt to remember me by .Thank you giving me a chance.

  18. This is a grand idea you have. I usually filter out the “what was I thinking” fabric and donate to my guild for different charity projects or for fabric swaps. Most of us are retired and on fixed incomes so swapping is like shopping for new fabric without spending any more money.

  19. I am going to make quilts for a cancer camp to repay back for summer I spent at a camp for speech when a youngster. Never forgot the fun and friends there.

  20. I love your site for your great ideas.Your fabric are so beautiful and i want win your material for my little quilt baby.thanks a lot for all.
