It’s a Christmas miracle, my holiday sewing is done early
Normally my Christmas Eve is spent sewing the binding on a massive quilt that I’ve spent every waking moment stitching for the last two weeks in order to finish it in time. Then I spend the holiday tired and heavily caffeinated.
But not this year. I put the final stitch in my holiday sewing as the clock struck midnight on Dec. 22, three whole days before Christmas. The feeling was wonderful.
It helps that I’m not giving anyone a quilt this year. Sorry if you’re on my Christmas list and you were hoping this might be the year you get a Stephanie original. I needed a break after sewing two bed sized quilts and a lap quilt last year for Christmas. I got about 5 hours of sleep in the two days before Christmas in order to finish those babies.
If you are on my Christmas list and are wondering what I could have made, here are a few hints: The fabric item that is not a quilt goes with another item that I purchased from the Mississippi Valley Quilters Guild.
I also finally made Christmas stockings for my family, which consists of my husband, myself and three cocker spaniels. Lady is the one pictured in the photo at the top of this post. I’ve had the fabric for years but have always been too busy with gifts to make them.
I do think I need to make a quilt next year though, it just doesn’t seem like Christmas without a queen-sized quilt to bind.
