My New York Beauty quilt blocks are half done

My schedule hasn’t allowed for much quilting time recently. So when the stars aligned so that there was an opening in the Mississippi Valley Quilters Guild fall retreat and I had a free Friday night and Saturday, I considered it a sign from the universe that it was time to quilt.

I just brought one project with me, my Christmas New York Beauty. I started it two years ago at retreat and although I didn’t mean it to be a retreat project, I tend to only work on it there, so progress has been slow going.

I paper pieced the points and sewed curved seams until my brain couldn’t take anymore. But I’m very happy with the results. I finished 10 blocks to have a total of 38 out 64 completed for the quilt.

I have no hopes of finishing this quilt before this Christmas, but at least I made some good progress and passed the halfway point last weekend. Maybe it will be on my bed next Christmas.

What quilt have you been working on for longer than you’d like to admit?
