Dare to Dance: An Art Quilt Challenge

Mary Kerr

Dance is a rhythmic movement of the human body, a form of expression that allows one to creatively experience a wide range of emotions. In this new art quilt book, see how 60 artists rose to the challenge and created an 18 x 30 inch quilt that reflected the theme, “Dare to Dance: An Artist’s Interpretation of Joy.”

Celebrate the Day with Quilts: An Art Quilt Challenge

Shannon Gingrich Shirley

Quilters are always looking for a reason to buy more fabric or use up some of their stash while enjoying one of their favorite things to do, and what better way is there than to celebrate a special day by making a quilt. Broken down by the month, fifty-three artists from seven states share 72 original wall-hangings that were made to celebrate some of the lesser-known “holidays” throughout the year

Decorating Eggs: Exquisite Designs with Wax & Dye

Jane Pollak

Truly exquisite designs, intricate details, and brilliant color schemes come together in this new DIY book on decorating eggs. This age-old craft is given new life through gemlike color dyes and beeswax. Design a simple two-color pattern, such as a snowflake or a Mexican stamp. Go traditional with a Ukrainian egg. You can even “quilt” on your eggs with a patchwork or appliqué design.

  3. Would love the Celebrate the Day with Quilts. My grandmother taught me to quilt when I was young, but the hectic life of being a mom and a nurse forced me to put my needles away. Now that my children are grown and my grandchildren visit, I want to leave them with reminders that I was here and I loved them. So I am making a quilt for each of my babies……all 7 of them. I am constantly scanning quilting forums looking for new patterns, ideas, etc. This book looks like it would provide lots of interesting alterntives….

  4. Celebrate the Day would be my choice. I’ve done a lot of quilting but not much art-quilting. This book would help me expand my horizons!

  12. Choosing one is very hard. They all look so fascinating.
I took dance for years so that would almost a no brainer….but then I have always wanted to learn how to decorate eggs.but in the end I have to pick the book that I would be able to use with my students ..All 136 of them. They are inspiring my daily Celebrations. …so that’s the one I would choose. Thanks for asking. Deb

  13. I’m in the midst of a transformation, adding more movement into my life, but still creating with fabric and quilting as my art, my joy and my stress relief. At my top weight, I never dared to dance, now in the middle I dance, I sing and I quilt we more joy as I don’t have as much time as I use to. Let me see how a dancer interrupts quilting and joy, then I can show them how a quilter interrupts dance and joy!

  14. I would like the Egg Decoration book.
Love all kind of quilt decoration.
Maybe it might insoire me to pick up some time to try doing it myself.
Looks a bit like the Jim Shore Santa’s I bought.

  15. Celebrate the Day with Quilts looks so fun. I’m itching to try my hand at an art quilt and it just seems that there would be so much inspiration to be found there. Honestly though, any of the three books would be an awesome gift. Thanks for the giveaway.

  16. I would love the decorating eggs book. My boyfriends father spent time in Russia for work and fell in love with the eggs they made over there, so I would like to learn how to do it for him.

  17. Celebrate the Day with Quilts: An Art Quilt Challenge by Shannon Gingrich Shirley would be a wonderful book to inspire my quilting to the next level. My desire is to challenge myself with each new quilt I make.
