Last-minute gift: GAP-tastic cowl

GAP-tastic Cowl

This post is for all you quilters out there that are also closet knitters. I started and finished the GAP-tastic Cowl in one week. Yes, just one week, and I am by no means a fast knitter.

This pattern is super simple. You just alternate knit and purl stitches, so even a beginner can handle it. You knit it in the round, so there’s not joining seams. And you use big needles with chunky yarn, so the project goes really quickly.

I made one for that one person on my list who is difficult to shop for, but I know will appreciate anything handmade. We all have one of those on our list.

For my GAP-tastic Cowl I used Malabrigo Chunky in colorway 118 I picked up from my local yarn shop Knit & Knot, A Yarn Boutique. But any chunky yarn will do. The pattern is a free download on Ravelry.com. If you don’t know about Ravelry and are a knitter or crocheter, then you must check it out. Make sure you have an hour or so to blow planning out all your future knitting projects. You need an account to download the pattern, but creating one is free.
