February Block of the Month

I hope you all are having as much fun with the Quilt Addicts Anonymous Block of the Month as I am.

Nearly 1,500 of you downloaded the January block, and I can’t wait to see how everyone’s fabric and color choices make the pattern come to life in a different way. But now it’s time to take on the February Block of the Month. Click here, or on the photo at the bottom of this blog to download the pattern from Craftsy.

This month there are two variations available. I like to call one the “Glutton for Punishment” version and the other the “I have a life and would actually like to finish this” version. They both finish 12 inches square, one just has less half square triangles than the other. If you’re pressed for time, I suggest going with the second version, which has fewer triangles to make.

When you’re finished with your block, don’t forget to use the link up tools at the bottom of this month’s blog post to share a picture of your finished block. You can link back to your blog posts about your block, Instagram photo or other photo sharing site.

  1. I think there might be an error in the instructions. In the cutting directions, Version 2 calls for 44 3″ pink squares and 44 purple 2 1/2″ squares. I think both squares should be 3″.

  2. I was trying to post my February block but not getting the area to pic a photo to post. Also I noticed that in Version 2 instructions, it said I would have 1 hst left from the small and large ones but I didn’t have any left over.

    1. The instructions are written for putting one block together at a time, so the extra half square triangle is used in the second block. That means you won’t have any left over at the end since there are an even amount of blocks. But I can see how that instruction might be confusing.

  3. In the video you show to square up the small triangles at 2 1/2 …but you start with 2 1/2 inch square ….confused

    1. There are two variations of this month’s block and they each have different cutting instructions. I demonstrated with the second variation, but it sounds like you’re making the first, which squares up to 2 inches. Just make sure you follow the instructions for the block you’ve chosen.

        1. The blocks look very similar and finish the same size, just one has fewer half square triangles than the other. The instructions for the first variation is on pages one and two of your pattern download, and the second is on pages three and four.
