Almost Famous

I’ve got some very fun news to share this week. Earlier this year I was asked to create a block for the Olfa 35th anniversary quilt to be debuted at Quilt Market.

I was flattered to be chosen and excited to get some free stuff for participating – one of the perks of being a quilt blogger. But since the block was just six inches square, I figured I was one of a hundred or so quilters asked to contribute. Still an honor, but not holy cow this needs to be shared with everyone I know news.

I was floored when I saw the quilt on Olfa’s Facebook page last week and found out, not only was I one of just 36 quilters to contribute a block, but I was in some very good company. Pat Sloan, Ricky Tims, Alex Anderson and Michele Foster are just some of the highly recognizable quilting celebrities who also contributed blocks.

I just kept saying, “I have no idea how I got on this list.”

To be chosen to be a part of a project with such an elite group of quilters is really an honor and also very encouraging. I’ve always thought that if I could just carve out some more time for the blog I could turn it into something more than a fun hobby that funds my fabric addiction.

The overwhelming response to the block of the month tutorials is telling me the same message. When I put up the tutorials, I figured maybe 50 people would follow along. Now there are more than 8,000 quilters who have downloaded patterns. It just blows my mind.

So, once life slows down after the holiday season, look for some changes here: more articles, quilting and sewing news, tutorials, another block of the month design for 2015, a new website design that makes Quilt Addicts Anonymous more of a resource and less of a too often neglected quilting diary.

I’m excited at what is to come and want to thank you all for following me this far. Because you’re the answer to how I got on Olfa’s list.
