How to make no waste flying geese units

Today’s tutorial teaches you how to make no waste flying geese units. I love this method for making flying geese so much, that I refuse to make them any other way. It fits in the triangle boot camp series because like the other tutorials, you don’t actually cut and triangles to make the flying geese.

There is a little bit of math you have to know before you get started. You need to measure the length and width of the finished flying geese unit. Mine is 4″ wide and 2″ tall.

Cut a square that is 1 1/4″ wider than the width of your flying geese unit. That fabric will become the large triangle in your finished flying geese unit. In this example, I cut mine 5 1/4″ square.

Then you need four squares that are 7/8″ larger than the finished height of your flying geese unit. These will become the small squares in your flying geese unit. In this example, I cut mine 2 7/8″. Now you’re ready to follow the instructions in today’s video tutorial.

Use the video tutorial to tackle that triangle quilt you’ve always wanted to make, or download the pattern I designed especially for Triangle Boot Camp.
