I am so excited to share Starburst Galaxy, the 2017 Quilt Addicts Anonymous Block of the Month with you!

This design has been in the works for months starting with the fabric selection, through three different design revisions before this new design was born.

Next year we are going to lighten things up quite a bit. The fabrics are much softer in tone and the neutral will be a nice light gray that was created just for this quilt. All the blocks are variations on a simple star shape, so the pattern can be made by all levels of quilters. The complicated look of the design comes from setting the blocks on point and using subtle color changes to create the ombre look echoing out from the center.

If you’ve been following along with the Quilt Addicts Anonymous BOMs, then you’ll notice this is the first borderless quilt. I’ve designed. Instead we’ll make setting triangles in December in two different colorways to finish off the look of this quilt.

Another first, next year I will be offering pattern booklets for purchase at the beginning of the year.
