Kaffe’s Artisan Trunk Show is in the shop!

Kaffe Fassett, Artisan, Kaffe Artisan, Artisan Trunk Show

The UPS guy is pretty much my favorite person in the world that I am not related or married to. He brings me all kinds of goodies and today he brought the Kaffe Artisan Trunk Show to the shop! It is made with fabrics included in Kaffe’s Artisan 2017 collection. You can shop fabrics from the collection by clicking here.

We will have the quilts, garments, bags and pillows up through Tuesday, December 5, 2017. Then we have to send it onto the next place. We will have two trunk show walk throughs at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2017. We are located at 1232 30th St., Rock Island, IL.

I am so excited to have these quilts and other handmade items at Quilt Addicts Anonymous. I had the opportunity to see Kaffe’s quilts in person for the first time during his Blanket Statements exhibit. You can read more about that here.

The experience completely changed the way I looked at fabric selection and quilt design and helped set me on the path to building my own pattern design business. I am really thrilled to be able to bring Kaffe quilts for our local quilters to see in person, so they can have the same experience I did.

The quilts are just a riot of color with no neutrals in sight. They take the fabulous prints from the Kaffe Fassett Collective and give you great ideas on how to use them. The quilts mix prints, batiks and wovens with ease. They also often use what you would normally consider a border print and use it as panels.

Stripes Galore, the large quilt on the left in the above photo, uses just about every stripe in the line and uses one big stripe in the center as a panel. You can download the pattern for free by clicking here.

The look of the quilt shop was completely transformed when we pulled my original designs down and put the Kaffe Artisan quilts up. I thought I had a pretty bright color palette, but nothing compares to Kaffe. I just love how cherry everything is with all the bright red, orange and pinks covering the walls.

There are several garments included in the trunk show and I am just loving this dress by Colette Patterns. I have been wanting to make more dresses and tunics from fabrics in the shop and this dress is just so inspiring.

And of course there are lots of bags too. This Flower Power Tote is another free pattern from Free Spirit Fabrics. You can download it by clicking here.  As we were unpacking this trunk show and drooling over all the goodies inside, one of my shop employees saw this and immediately went over to the shelf and cut enough to make herself one.

Hands down, my daughter’s favorite item in the Kaffe Artisan Trunk Show is the play tent and mat. She has fully tested it out and determined it is good to go. She also asked if we could take it home, which we of course could not. I may have to make one of these for her after this one goes to the next location.
