We got 108″ wide backs for the first time! So today’s video doubles as a new fabric show and tell AND a quick lesson on how to figure out how much backing you need to order if you are ordering a 108″ wide back instead of regular quilting fabric.
Now onto what we got! You asked for Kaffe wide backs, so we got them! FreeSpirit Fabrics prints their wide backs on a sateen fabric. It is soft, silky, quilts beautifully and feels great against your skin when you are snuggling under it.
If you’re new to ordering wide backs, the price per yard is more expensive than what you are used to seeing, but it ends up being a better deal. For example, you can get enough backing for a 96-inch square queen with just 3 yards of a wide back, which is about $70. If you are using regular quilting cotton, then you would need nine yards and it would cost about $108, so that’s about a $40 savings if you go with a wide back!
