I had a chance to sit down with renowned sewing educator Join Mahon recently to chat about her new book Ultimate Illustrated Guide to Sewing Clothes.
Joi has been sewing and tailoring garments professionally since she was in high school, went to fashion school and has built a career creating custom clothing for others and teaching sewists to do the same.
She has appeared in videos for Babylock, Nancy’s Notions and Craftsy as well as written two other best selling books on garment sewing and fit.
I dabble in garment sewing, mostly for my kids because they don’t have curves that require the same attention to fit as the adult female body. And I have spent countless hours searching the Internet for tutorials to help me make better clothes for them.
But when I reviewed Joi’s latest book Ultimate Illustrated Guide to Sewing Clothes, I knew I had found my sewing Bible. You name it, the sewing and fitting technique is covered in this book. It is going to be my go-to reference guide from now on.
