Ombre is one of my favorite quilts in my book, “Simple Quilts for the Modern Home,” mostly because of the color palette. The teals, grays and citrons are what you’ll find all over my house. I just love the calming effect of the colors together.
And that is what is the best part about Ombre. Besides the fact that it is super fast and easy to make, you can easily customize the quilt to fit with your favorite colors or to match the home decor of the person you are making it for.
In today’s video I walk you through how to strip piece, how to cut your strip pieced units apart when they are really long and how I mark the center and quarters of my rows to ensure everything fits just right with no bunching when you assemble your top.
The minimalist design of Ombre is great for beginners, or anyone who just needs to make a quilt fast. Plus it looks good with modern decor. And with all the wide open space, you can have a lot of fun getting crazy with the quilting on this one.
This tutorial is meant to be a supplemental guide for people who are visual learners and want to see the quilt being assembled in addition to reading the instructions and assembly diagrams in the book. All of the cutting instructions, yardage requirements and everything else you need to make this pattern are included in “Simple Quilt for the Modern Home”.
