In today’s video I show you how I quilted Undulation, our latest Stashin’ with Stephanie quilt pattern.
The quilting is really stunning and helped separate the fat quarter prints from the background, but there’s absolutely nothing complicated about the quilting designs. It just looks really amazing when you combine some simple elements.
You get to see a quilting play-by-play as I talk through what I am doing and why as you see me quilt in real time on a Go Pro camera.
I used a series of wavy lines in the background, working my way from the block corner to the rectangle corners of each log cabin strip. The result is an absolutely stunning background filler that looks like rays filling up a large plus, but it was super simple to execute.
Next I used large undulating waves throughout the fat quarter halves of the block to help accentuate the wavy design created by the block layout. You can see how I chose my density to match the density created by the background filler.
And the best part, both stitches are just variations on a wavy line, a super simple beginner free motion stitch. You can absolutely do this and I hope this video give you the confidence to give it a go.
Undulation was designed as part of our Stashin’ with Stephanie subscription club. The pattern is FREE for members, plus they get lots of other exclusive discounts and first dibs on fabric. Learn more and sign up here: https://shop.quiltaddictsanonymous.com/stashin
