It’s Stashin’ with Stephanie time where we release a new fat quarter friendly pattern inspired by this month’s featured fabric Dreamscape by Josephine Kimberling for FIGO Fabrics.
Each month I try to let the fabric speak to me and tell me what it would like to become. I just love the cheerful colors and psychedelic imagery in Dreamscape. I wanted to both highlight the color and be able to use some of the fabrics on a big scale to let them shine.
Galactic, the 60-degree diamond star block I designed uses large diamonds in the center, which is perfect for your too pretty to cut up fabrics. Then the outer diamonds are smaller and do a good job of tying together all the colors in the fabric collection.
The pattern doesn’t have any of the dreaded Y-seams, and I walk you through all the steps from how to cut your diamonds and triangles to assembling your final rows. With the video a confident beginner or intermediate quilter can absolutely make Galactic.
