This is one of my favorite videos each month when I attach a GoPro to my longarm and talk through my quilting decisions to give you ideas and inspire you.
For Galactic, our latest Stashin’ with Stephanie pattern, I wanted to quilt the 60-degree star in a different way than the background so that it would stand out.
I chose a wavy line radiating out from the center of the start to each diamond point. This is a super simple stitch that we cover in our Intro to Free Motion Quilting course and we show you the modification to be able to do what I did in this video. It creates a very dense center star and really makes the block pop.
Then I quilted a small swirl meander in the background. We also cover this stitch in our Intro to Free Motion Quilting course. I chose a small, dense background filler so I could match the density of the wavy lines in the star and create consistent quilting throughout the quilt.
I love how the quilt turned out and looks super fancy with just two simple stitches.
