I fell in love with fashion backpacks when my family took a week-long trip to Chicago this summer. I knew I needed something to carry everything while having my hands free, so I picked up a small backpack from Target and was so glad I did.
Even though it was a fraction the size of my school backpack, it held my phone, wallet, diapers, wipes, snacks, souvenirs and so much more, all while keeping my hands free to push a stroller around the city or hold my older daughter’s hand.
So I knew I needed to give the Everly Backpack from Sew Many Creations a go. The finished size of 11-inches wide by 12-inches high and a 4-inch depth means you can fit a ton in it without it being so large it will weigh you down.
The straps are also convertible so you can change it to a one shoulder sling if you need to. And the combo of a canvas top and a cork bottom means it will be super durable and able to handle some abuse as you use it daily.
Our video walks you through every step of the construction process including how to fuse interfacing, make your straps, install hardware and zippers and work with cork fabric. But you will need to get a pattern to get the measurements, the video is just meant to be an extra resource for those of you who are visual learners.
We have two kits available that contain everything you need to make the backpack. But the pattern is sold separately. So if you already have the pattern, or want to buy more than one kit, you won’t end up with duplicate patterns.
