Stripping in Paradise tutorial and kit reveal

I have been holding this news back since March and am so excited to share it with you all now!

The Stripping in Paradise pattern has been my favorite so far of all the patterns I’ve created for fabric exchanges. So when the exchange wrapped up, I wanted a way to share the quilt and the experience of making it with more quilters.

So I spent a very fun afternoon going through 1,000 fabric swatches of artisan hand-dyed batiks from Majestic Batiks to pick 36 fabrics I loved and thought would work perfectly to create the ombre look of the quilt pattern.

Well that was back in March, then it took three months for the fabric to be created just for this quilt and then I had to find time to make the first sample. You’d think that would be the easy part since I do this for a living, but no, stuff always gets in the way.

Well this week I put the final stitch in the binding, and photographed the quilt lakeside during my family vacation. … Because when you have a quilt called Stripping in Paradise, it needs to be photographed somewhere tropical, or near water. It’s just a rule. And now kits are available at shop.quiltaddictsanonymous.com!

The quilt got its name because it uses strip piecing and half square triangles to create the blocks. The construction method is super fast and there are very few matching seams, so a beginner could handle it. And the paradise comes from the batiks, which are made in paradise.

I had a ton of fun quilting this one. I used my go-to swirls using a variegated thread in the batiks and finally tried straight-line quilting in the black. Straight line quilting was definitely a labor of love. It took FOREVER, but I love the texture and will definitely have to give it a try again on another quilt.

So if you too, love this quilt, watch the tutorial and click here to get the kit. It comes with the jelly roll I curated, Moda Bella Solids black for the background and binding and a printed pattern that has been updated for the kit.

  1. I love this quilt. Bought the pattern and am ready to choose fabric. But, the recipient is male and pretty traditional in his color thoughts (deep green, blue). I’ve been looking for a jelly roll in more fall colors, but most have repeats in the fabric pattern. Any advise?
