Fat Quarter Friendly, Strip Piecing Quilt Tutorial! Watch How to Make Trellis ..

In this Stashin’ with Stephanie video I show you how to:
– Strip piece to create a quilt top quickly
– Plan your fabric placement to create plus signs with fabric
– Press your seams open so they are super flat

So even if you don’t want to make this quilt, there are lots of good tips and tricks to take your piecing to the next level, so check it out!

For this month’s Stashin’ with Stephanie pattern I was really inspired by the large floral scene in Wildwood by Rifle Paper Company for Cotton + Steel.

I wanted to create the look of a garden trellis by using the light fabrics to form the trellis, the dark fabrics inside the trellis squares and the medium prints for the pluses in between the trellis grid.

This quilt is busy, but I just love how it turned out. The color values really make the pattern pop and those metallics are just fabulous. But if you wanted a calmer look, just pick one light fabric instead of a bunch of fat quarters to tone it down and give the eye a place to rest.

And of course we created something fun, without a lot of fuss. Trellis uses lots of strip piecing to speed everything up, you can get away with skipping the pins until you start sewing the rows together and there are NO SEAMS to match at all in the entire quilt!

The pattern for this quilt is available in crib, throw, twin (pictured) and queen.
