Fat Quarter Quilts! Tips for Choosing Fabric … watch Stephanie do a fabric pull

Scrappy and fat quarter quilts are so much fun to make, but choosing fabric that looks nice together can be one of the hardest parts of the process.

In today’s bonus video, Stephanie turned the camera on while she narrowed 42 fat quarters from Tula Pink’s True Colors collection down to 14 for a quilt she is working on for her next book.

The video is a little different format than we normally make because I literally only have an idea of what I want for color when we start, and you get a peak into my thought process of how I evaluate fabrics to end up with a visually appealing quilt in the end.

We talk about color theory, color value, making sure you have a pop and the importance of choosing some constants to give the eye a place to rest.

I hope you enjoy today’s video as you raid your stash to start some new quilting projects. And just in case you need some inspiration we have tons of stash friendly patterns that you can check out right here, almost all of which are also available in PDF format: https://shop.quiltaddictsanonymous.com/product-category/patterns/designer/quilt-addicts-anonymous/?orderby=date

And I highly recommend you stick with one neutral fabric for the background so that all your fabrics can stand out. Check out our blenders and solids for some great options.
