There’s nothing better than an easy pattern that looks complicated. 18 Carat fits that bill. You just need to be able to sew a half-square triangle and cut strips to make the blocks for this quilt, but it looks like you cut super complicated templates and worked for weeks on a top you can get together in a weekend.
18 Carat is made with a 10-inch square pack and coordinating yardage. The pattern is named for the sparkling gemstone look created by grouping the layer cake squares into color groupings.
With instructions this easy, 18 Carat can be put together in a weekend for a quick project to be made as a gift, or to have something for your couch or twin bed. You can easily increase the size of this quilt by using two 10-inch square packs cakes and twice the yardage to make a queen-sized quilt from this pattern.
I originally designed this quilt a couple years ago using batiks with a black background, but I am loving the look of the updated version made with a Kaffe 10-inch charm pack and rich pink background fabric. Watch the video, get the pattern and get inspired to make something fabulous!

Where can I buy the layer cake that was used on the pattern 18 carat? I have the pattern but need the fabric used in the pattern. I cannot come close anywhere. Help
Johanna, this was a Kaffe Fassett line from 2018. While I am not sure this line is still available all of his lines have similar colors. We do not currently have any in stock, but we are always getting new products.
