12 Makes of Christmas 2021 French Seam Pillowcase

For our final make of Christmas we are doing a replay of our French Seam Pillowcase tutorial that we put together earlier this year.

Don’t let the words, “French Seam” intimidate you. This finishing technique is a great way to enclose all your raw edges if you don’t have a serger and create a more polished look than the pillowcases you’ll find in the store. Plus it’s not hard, and we walk you through it step-by-step in our video tutorial and FREE pattern.

I love making pillowcases to give as gifts, especially when you use novelty fabrics for kids or make pillowcases to match the quilt you are giving away.

I hope you have enjoyed our 4th annual 12 Makes of Christmas series. It is always a ton of work to put this together but we have a lot of fun coming up with projects to inspire you each year.

A great way to say thanks for all the freebies we sent out this week is to grab the materials for your next quilty project from us. It helps support our small family business and allows us to keep creating great content for you.

  1. Thank you very much for this instructional video of how to make a pillow case. I was a bit confused at the beginning with making the “tube” but I think I know now how to do it.

However all our bought pillowcases have a pocket at the sleeve (top of the pillowcase) where the pillow goes in, so it doesn’t pip out at any point. I was waiting for the end of the video to see how a pillow was going to sit in it but you never showed it.
