Precut Quilt Pattern for Jelly Rolls and Layer Cakes! Just add Binding … Rainbow Layer Cake

Rainbow Layer Cake is a super fun, no neutral quilt pattern that uses one jelly roll and one layer cake from the same fabric line to create a waterfall of color on your quilt.

Because the only yardage used in this quilt is for binding, it really shows off the fabric and color changes, so it is perfect for fabric lines that have a rainbow effect to them. You can literally make it look like a rainbow layer cake good enough to eat!

This is one of our most thorough tutorials ever. Rainbow Layer Cake uses 60 degree triangles to create diamonds that are sewn together in diagonal rows. So it is perfect for someone who has made a quilt or two and is ready to try something a little more challenging to bring their skills to the next level.

In order to make sure you have all the skills you need to make Rainbow Layer Cake we cover:
– How to arrange your fabric so that you’ll have peaks of color in your rainbow
– How to make the strip pieced triangles
– How to trim the triangles to size using the equilateral triangle ruler
– How to join your triangles into diamonds
– How to press your seams open for perfectly flat points
– How to join your diamonds into rows along the diagonal
– How to join your rows and use a two pinning technique to get perfect points every time

Rainbow Layer Cake is hands down one of my favorite patterns and I hope you love it as much as I do.
